Tina writing. It's the 29th of January and I have almost exactly 3 weeks until I leave. In case you don't know me, my name is Christina (or Tina) and I'm a junior at a typical american high school who applied to go on a semester of study abroad to Chile. The program I'm going on is called AFS (originally American Field Service) and is a program designed to give high schoolers the opportunity to immerse themselves in another culture. I will be living with a host family (who only speak Spanish) and attending a local high school.
I was accepted into the AFS-Chile spring semester program in October. Since then, I have been planning and preparing for my trip as much as possible. Now, the time before I leave is disappearing, and I thought I would get a start on my blog. The main purpose of this blog is to keep my family and friends up to date with what's going on in my Chilean life. I also want to share my experiences with anyone who is planning their own study abroad and wants to know more about the adventure.
